Richard Long exhibition

Recently I attended a private viewing of an exhibition by the world renowned artist Richard Long. Richard Long has been creating art for more than 40 years varying from poems to immense shapes created amongst the natural landscape. All of his work in the exhibition was intriguing to view and discuss, each piece telling its own specific story. For me the most memorable piece of art was called ‘circle in Africa’ which was created in 1978. It is a black and white photograph showing a sculpture he created whilst on his travels around Africa. Although an incredibly simple idea, it captivated me knowing that the circle is man-made however the resources it is made from are natural, creating an interesting contrast between the man-made sculpture and the natural landscape.

Below are some of Richard Long’s works which I find particularly inspiring.
